Yes! One time I started writing a poem about how I had no ideas in my brain, and it turned out to be one of my favorite silly poems I’ve ever written! If only it always worked out that way.

Nina, I really appreciate your kind words. It happens to me all the time. You can imagine how much scribble I’ve thrown away. But that’s OK, even though, at the time, I may not see that it’s part of the process. I try. What a tremendous honor to think that this might help your students. That is the nicest compliment I’ve received about anything I’ve ever written, professional or otherwise. Thank you!

You’re far too kind, thank you. I appreciate it.

I love the fact that this is real; this is something I could share with my students in high school who always say they "can't write" or "I don't have anything to write about". Yes, you do, in fact. *see this post

I continually tell them to just write that - that they don't know what to write - and something will show up. Inevitably, something does show up. Through relating your seed story here, I am able to prove that a live, adult human does it! (they trust few people or statements)

Thank you!

Writer's blank. Love that. What would you call so many ideas in your head, but every time you want to write about ONE of them, you convince yourself no one will be interested in reading it? So you stop. Writer's Fool? Writer's everywhere? (haha, that ones kind of funny.) Good stuff Ben.

I would call it the same gut check we all face. I’m working on something else and thinking Who cares about this? Then Who cares about this coming from me? These are natural questions. You can always reach out for an objective viewpoint. :)

My ideas are always random, although I can certainly put myself in more stimulating situations so I'm exposed to more of them.

I don't care for the character of Notorious BIG, but he wrote a brilliant album about life on the streets. Then, for his sophomore album, he wasn't on the streets any more, so he wrote predominantly about the industry. In other words, he wrote what he was living and understood.

Writer's Blank sucks, except when you write about it! Pretty meta.

Thanks for the kind words. Experiences certainly provide wonderful ideas. As for Meta, I try my best so that I don't get steamrolled around here.

Who's doing the steamrolling? You know who it is at my house....

Ferocious. I tried to ply them this morning. He with a new Kong stick (really cool) against all of which I rubbed a Milkbone, and she with a new laser dot and cool coregated thing that you practically bathe in catnip.

I gave Dinkles a little bit of pasta for lunch. She only eats 2x a day (except when we give her treats).
