What a lovely story Ben! Great moral lesson combined with character development and plot. You’re a good writer--I just wish I had enough time to be a voracious reader on Substack! Do you have lots of stories underway, or are you coming up with these day by day?
Sandy, thanks for your kind words. I really appreciate them. I never have more than one story underway, really, and there are times when I can't think of anything to write about. Prompts help. Now, drawing -- there's a skill for which I would give up plenty of stories not yet (or already) written.
I have challenges figuring out what to sketch each day but my drawings often just take a few minutes. I’d be writing all day long to develop stories like yours!
PS I bet you could do little drawings to illustrate these. A little penguin wouldn’t be hard 😍

If I tried to draw a penguin, it would look like something out of one of the Aliens movies. Seriously. Or a velociraptor or bird-eating spider.
Ha! Which might perfectly explain a fear of penguins.....🤣
