Yessir. It’s right there. Between the notes, the lines, the words, and the miles.

Thanks Ben. I could use a little night time freeze around these parts right now. It’s damn hot 🥵

Mark, thank you so much for your kind words. I'm hardly enamored with (by?) my own writing, but I like this piece. It feels easy to me, like it has its own pace and rhythm, one that kind of inevitably leads the cowboy to the sheriff's wisdom. I'm really glad you enjoyed it and thanks for poking around the archives, which I also love to do.

Mills, thanks so much. I’m delighted you liked it. I enjoyed writing it. In my next life, I hope to be a cowboy with generations of leather and grit beneath my fingernails.

Hey, me too! Or a writer, which it seems like you got this go-around? (I’m a great driver and have a super-high tolerance for nicotine, that’s the straw I drew).

Mills, I'm not so sure I've gotten the writer thing down, but as I said last weekend, I do sometimes put words in the right order. It has been a treat discovering how many talented writers there are here. It's both fun and humbling. Also, thank you for the restack. You're very kind.
